Podcast: Building Career Pathways for Neurodivergent Learners

So many neurodivergent learners are capable, motivated, and ready. Yet, the data shows they still can’t access meaningful career pathways. Why is this?

Nulty Lynch
and I brought our NCDA conference conversation to the Career Practitioner Conversations podcast (DEI Symposium Series). Here we unpack what we see every day as educators, alongside our shared and individual lived experiences from both neurodivergent and neurotypical perspectives.

We talk about masking, executive functioning, communication mismatches, and why traditional hiring and interviewing systems can block incredible talent for reasons that have nothing to do with the actual job.

And we talk about solutions, because access starts with action:
-using multiple ways to communicate (text, chat, email, not just phone calls)
 -clarifying steps and expectations
-sharing interview questions ahead of time
-designing with neurodivergent voices at the table

What’s one change you wish schools, colleges, or employers would make to expand access?
