Every reminder turned into a standoff.
Every conversation about essays or deadlines ended with a frustrated “I’ve got it.”
And yet, nothing was getting done.
Like so many parents, I found myself stuck in the exact cycle I coach other families to avoid.
Nag. Procrastinate. Ultimatum. Silence . . . Wash. Rinse. Repeat.
To be clear, my daughter and I have a strong relationship. This wasn't about ongoing conflict or rebellion, it was about a teenager wanting independence, wanting to own the process . . . and also putting it off until the last minute.
I knew she was fully capable. She had everything she needed to apply to college, except one thing: someone other than me or her dad to walk her through the process.
And since she kept pushing me away, and the stakes were high, I had to do something I never thought I would.
I hired a college counselor for my own child.
Yes, I’m a college and career coach.
Yes, I’ve helped plenty of students with applications.
And yes, I still needed outside support for my daughter.
Why?
Because this process is emotional. Because she needed structure, not stress.
Because she didn’t want a coach who doubled as her mom.
And the truth is, most teens I know are like this. (If your teen isn't like this, please share your secrets with the rest of us over here on the struggle bus.)
They need a step-by-step guide, a non-parent adult who knows the ropes, and, who holds them accountable without the drama.
That’s why I created FutureReady Boot Camp, a guided program to help your teen go from “I’ll get to it” to "I'm done".
No more nagging. No more guessing. No more sleepless nights.
You’ll still get to be the cheerleader. But, now you won’t have to be the taskmaster.
This is not traditional 1:1 coaching that costs on average $6,388 (But don't take my word for it, check out these numbers!), it's a system that helps your teen stay on track and get to the finish line without missing deadlines or action items.
Because senior year should be about celebrating milestones, not battling over deadlines.
We handle the stress - so you can enjoy this season together.
